PURCHASING POWER PARITY THEORY: A CROSS-SECTIONAL DEPENDENCE PANEL DATA ANALYSIS OF SIXTEEN DEVELOPED COUNTRIES
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper examined the purchasing power parity (PPP) theory for a group of sixteen developed countries using powerful statistical panel data methods that account cross-sectional dependence. The utilized Pesaran unit root test, cointegration test Westerlund, Augmented Mean Group (AMG) estimator, Common Correlated Effect (CCEMG) and Granger non-causality Dumitricus Hurlin to analyze causal relationships among variables involved in study. tests showed PPP occurs this countries. Furthermore, outcomes long-run estimation revealed both depreciation appreciation nominal exchange rates. Apart from providing important policy implications on results obtained, made another significant contribution by extending linear AMG CCEMG estimators into nonlinear further used them examining theory.

متن کاملA Nonlinear Panel Data Model of Cross-sectional Dependence∗
This paper proposes a new panel model of cross-sectional dependence. The model has a number of potential structural interpretations that relate to economic phenomena such as herding in financial markets. On an econometric level, it provides a flexible approach of modelling interactions across panel units and can generate endogenous cross-sectional dependence that can resemble the dependence tha...
